웹표준을 왜?? [005]

웹표준이란 무엇인가.

웹표준은 W3C(World Wide Web Consortium)라는 국제 단체에서 권고하는 표준입니다.

웹에 관련한 표준에는 우리가 흔히 말하는 표준이 아니라, W3C의 토론을 통해 나온 권고안이 가장 최상위입니다. 즉, 웹을 만들때에도 표준이 있다는것입니다. 하지만 이런 표준이 지켜지지 않은 웹이 우리나라에는 대다수입니다.

웹표준을 지키지 않았을때의 문제점.

여러 브라우저중 우리나라에서 가장 많이 쓰이는 마이크로소프트의Explorer. 그 explorer의 버전들마다 웹이 다르게 보입니다.  그 외에 사파리,파이어폭스,크롬,오페라 등 다른 브라우저에서도 마찬가지 입니다.

이렇게 다르게보여지면, 디자인적인부분부터도 문제가 생길뿐더러 사용하는데에있어도 문제가 생깁니다.

예를 들어 explorer를 사용하는 사용자는 볼 수 있는데, 파이어폭스를 사용하는 사용자는 볼수 없다는 것입니다. 더 나아가 일반인들은 볼 수 있는데, 시각장애인들은 볼 수 없다는 것입니다.

시각장애인은 시각장애인용 프로그램을통하여 웹사이트를 소리로 듣게되는데, 웹표준을 지키지 않는다면, 그 사이트는 시각장애인이 접근을 하지 못한다는 것입니다.

웹표준을 지킨다면 이러한 문제는 해결 된다고 합니다.

이런 문제의 해결은 개발자들만이 해결 할 수 있는게 아닙니다. 많은 사람들이 그것을 원하고 그것의 필요성을 느끼고, 바뀌길 원해야합니다.
