이제는 거의 대중적인 가수가 되어버린 하우스룰즈이다. 좀 개성이 강한곳들에서만 들을 수 가 있었는데, 이제는 길거리 지나다니다가도 흔히 들을 수 있다. 특히나 이번앨범 내고, 유희열의 스케치북에 출연하면서 더욱 그러한것 같다. 방송을 거의 하지않고, 이렇게 인기를 끄는것도 대단하고, 앨범도 보통 가수들보다 자주 나온다.

우연히 멜론을 뒤지다가 하우스룰즈의 새 앨범을 발견하게되었는데, 그때가 앨범나온 그 다음날이었다. 멜론에서 들으면서, 다 듣기도전에 바로 CD를 구입했다.

이번 앨범은 시디 자켓만 봐도 느껴지겠지만, 여름파티를 겨냥한 시원한 앨범이다. 2집에서는 CMYK컬러를 중점적으로 썼다면, 이번 2.5집에서는 CM컬러가 주를 이룬다. 앨범의 이름 역시 시원한 느낌의 Pool party 이다.

그리고 자켓디자인은 1집과 비슷하지만 디자이너는 다르다. 하지만 서로가 프로듀싱하면서 서로의 의견이 많이 반영되어서 그런지 서로가 가운데, 양쪽에 파코와 영효가 있는 것들을 많이 볼 수 있다.

CD를 열어보면 심플하면서 전달하고싶은것만 잘 전달하고있고, 음악을 들어보면 알겠지만, 음악을 너무 잘 표현한 디자인이 아닌가 생각한다.
 자켓사진에는 하우스룰즈 이외에 객원보컬로 참여한, 사파이어와 윤지아의 사진도 들어있다. 하우스룰즈란 가수도, 거의 언더에서 시작한거나 다름없고, 소량으로 앨범을 찍어서 그런지 항상 앨범이 기본케이스로 되어있다. CD를 뺀 뒷면은 이렇게 되어있다. CD는 맥프로 속으로~ |

01. Pool Party (Feat.윤지아&사파이어)

- 헬륨먹은 목소리 또는 빨리감기할때 나는 얇은 목소리로, 즐거울듯한 분위기로 시작을하고, 이어서 서로의 섹소폰소리로 시원하게 이어간다. 그리고 사파이어의 독특한 목소리와 윤지아의 부드럽고 몽환적인 목소리가 더욱 시원한 느낌을 준다.

그리고 중간중간에 노래가 씹히는 소리가 나는데 이건 의도적인 것이고, 상당히 신나고, 서로의 실력에 다시한번 감탄하게된 노래다. 개인적으로 이번앨범에 제일 추천하는 곡이다.

- 좀 힘빠진 목소리의 엔느가 피쳐링한 노래다. 엔느는 지난 탐앤탐스3집에서 처음 알게되었는데, 이번앨범까지 참여했다. 누군지 궁금하다. 힘없는 엔느의 목소리에 부드럽게 에코를 넣은 듯해서 몽환적이며, 약간의 섹소폰소리와 살짝 느린 비트의 곡이다.

- 이번 앨범의 타이틀 곡이며, 음악만이 그루브하게 해준다는 음악 찬양적인 가사이다. 후렴과 간주부분의 강하고 빠른 섹소폰소리가 곡을 압도하며, 섹소폰소리가 이렇게 시원하게 들릴수가 있다는걸 새삼 느끼게 된다. 타이틀곡이라서그런지 섹소폰이 많은 부분을 차지한다.

- 이 곡에 참여한 보컬은 누군지 앨범에도 나와있지 않다. 살짝 빠른 비트에 섹소폰소리와 여성의 몽환적 목소리로 여느 노래와 비슷하지만, 중간중간에 아이들이 보컬대신 부르는데, 잼있고, 신선하며, Corea를 외친다. 의외다.

- 데뷔 초반에도 박정아(쥬얼리)와 작업을 했었는데, 이번 앨범에도 오랜만에 박정아가 참여했다. 위의 노래와는 다른분위기다. 우선 박정아의 파워풀한 목소리가 이전곡들과 다르고, 전체적인 분위기는 하우스장르에 가깝다.

- 이건 지금까지의 하우스룰즈와 다른 느낌의 곡인데, 어쿠스틱 기타와 섹소폰 소리로만 연주한다. 기타로는 파워코드를 치면서 비트느낌을 냈고, 섹소폰으로 멜로디를 연주한다. 중간에 피아노가 조금 나오긴한다. 그리고 섹소폰도 어쿠스틱으로 서로가 직접부른듯하다. 바람빠지는 소리가 리얼하게 들린다.

이번 앨범 또한 최고다. 미니앨범이라 아쉽긴하지만, 미니앨범같지않은 퀄리티와 계절에 딱맞는 컨셉과 음악, 앨범 디자인. 많은 비용은 들인것 같지 않으나, 완벽에 가깝다. 이 앨범의 곡들로 여름밤에 파티를 한다니 진짜 가보고싶은 하우스룰즈의 파티이고, 변화에 변화를 하고있는 하우스룰즈의 다음앨범이 벌써 기다려진다.
